Craigievar Castle is a massive stone 17th century L-plan tower house, founded by Master William Forbes. The lower storeys are plain, while the upper storeys have a variety of corbelling and turrets in a 'fairytale'-style. Of seven storeys, the castle is one of the finest Baronial tower houses to be built in Scotland.

Craigievar Castle is a Listed Building. Here's what the official description says about it:

5/7 storey towerhouse of stepped L-plan type. Elaborate
treatment of upper parts, 2-storey angle turrets,
re-entrant tower corbelled E. tower have balustraded flat
roofs and ogee capped stair turrets. Harled. Vaulted
ground floor, 1st floor hall groin vaulted with plaster
surface decoration and original screens passage. Moulded
plaster ceilings almost throughout. West wall of barmkin
remains, with remains of brewhouse (') at N. end and conical
roofed tower at S. end. Begun by Mortimers early 17th
cent., completed by Wm. Forbes. 1626. Re-roofed 1826.
